The Black British Institute of Excellence (BBIE) is a membership-based CIC that exists to advance and sustain education, skills development, leadership, entrepreneurship, cultural awareness, health awareness, social mobility, and economic growth for disadvantaged, underrepresented Black British individuals and Black-owned businesses based in the United Kingdom.
Black British people are a multi-ethnic group of people of either African or Caribbean origin—and in some cases Indo-Caribbean descent—who reside in Britain. The term “Black British” developed in the 1950s, referring to the migrant diasporan populations from the former British colonies in the Caribbean, sometimes referred to as the Windrush Generation, though it is also used to describe earlier populations from Africa.
Black British is one of several self-designation entries used in official UK ethnicity classifications, though many people still choose to self-identify differently, e.g., British Nigerian or British Jamaican.
At BBIE, we aim to build confident leaders, stronger communities, and sustainable legacies through education, mentorship, coaching, and entrepreneurial activities.
BBIE is a national training provider with the expertise and capacity to deliver flexible, online, impactful training to learners aged 13 and above. BBIE can change Black British communities’ lives by disseminating high-quality information, advice, and guidance (IAG) and delivering personalised learning, both face-to-face and online.
